With what hand is the bouquet carried?

Usually, the bride carries the bouquet in her left hand when arriving at the ceremony as it reaches the arm of the best man and, usually, clings to the arm of the best man with the right hand.

When leaving the ceremony (civil or religious), you usually hold your and your husband with your left arm to carry the bouquet in your right hand.

As I have said on other occasions, in many respects, there are no strict rules. Carry the bouquet with the hand that you feel comfortable with. Everything is fine.

Where to leave the bridal bouquet at the ceremony?

Avoid leaving it on the ground, both in civil and religious ceremonies, as it is ugly, and you can step on it without realizing it. Some brides choose to leave their bouquet on their lap, others support it on the kneeler (in religious ceremonies), and other brides leave it by their side on the bench where they are sitting. As you can see, once again, everything is flexible. If you go it on your lap, make sure it is not wet at the ends, it will not get your dress damp and stain.

Where is the best man placed at a wedding?

We will place the bride and groom first, and it is usual for the couple to stand with their backs to the guests, facing the person who officiates the ceremony. Sometimes the groomsmen stand next to the couple following the godfather's scheme, bride, groom, and godmother.

But, the possibility that the godfather and godmother sit on the first benches or in the first rows of chairs so that only the bride and groom are at the altar.

Another possibility is that the couple (especially in civil ceremonies) sit facing the guests or diagonally to see their family and friends' faces and gestures. Personally, it is the way I like the most in civil ceremonies since you can exchange glances and make gestures full of tenderness to your guests at certain moments and beautiful photos come out.

On which side does the bride enter the ceremony?

The bride usually enters holding the right arm of the best man or of the person she chooses as a companion.

Where and with whom do I dress as a bride?

If I speak to you as a photographer, I tell you, without thinking, that it is a spacious place with a large window that a beautiful natural light enters. It is expected that we do not always have these situations, so do not worry because the important thing will be to dress as a bride / or where you feel you have to. Some of the most common places are:

  • Hotel / Hostel / AirBnb
  • Parents house
  • Couple's house

In any of the options, I recommend choosing the amplest and brightest room and collecting junk that may bother you when dressing.

And it is a personal choice who you want to accompany you to dress, and it could be your parents and siblings, your cousins, a special aunt, your friends. During the preparations, there are lovely and sometimes emotional moments. The bride even gives them a special gift, or they toast with champagne with sisters or friends.

On which side is the boutonniere placed?

Without a doubt, this is one of the 10 wedding questions that I am asked the most during the groom's preparations. It is normal, and I am happy to help in those nervous moments. The pin is the floral ornament that the groom wears on the lapel. Usually matching the bride's bouquet. It is the detail that differentiates the groom from the rest of the guests. It is placed on the left side, on the lapel of the jacket. If the jacket did not have a lapel or the groom did not wear a jacket, the pin would be placed on the left side at the heart's height.

How should the godmother and best man be dressed at the wedding?

The protocol says that bridesmaids should not wear a cocktail or short dress and, in theory, the bride and godmother would be the only ones who would go long. It is evident that this has been changing and the ideal is that it fits each one's tastes, which is what your wedding is for.

The protocol says that if the godmother wears a mantilla it must be black since the white one would be used for unmarried women. Still, this has also changed, and one color or another can be used interchangeably, as best combines with the dress. Or even wear the mantilla of the same color as the dress.

The godmother can wear a mantilla, headdress, or go free of ornaments. Especially the headdress should not be removed for the whole day. They say the same for the shawl, but realistically it would be like asking a bride not to remove her heels all day. We know very well that a second comfortable shoe is always recommended to enjoy dancing and partying. Something similar happens with the mantilla.

The best man should go as the groom goes. In other words, if the groom is wearing a morning coat, the best man must wear a morning coat. It is also usually recommended that the best man and the bride wear something to match, that is to say, that if the bride decides to wear blue accessories, then the best man's vest or tie are also blue. This is optional, but it's always okay to pitch ideas.

Groom suit on or handkerchief?

It is a matter of taste, and the only clear thing is that the smartest thing is to choose one of them and not wear a scarf at the same time. You know that "less is more".

Some brides and grooms choose to wear it during the ceremony and change it for the handkerchief after the celebration. The truth is that this rarely happens since the practical thing is to decide on one of them and forget about it.

Who sits at the bride and groom's table?

Usually, the bride and groom are seated at the wedding table with their godparents and their partners. Sometimes the grandparents also sit.

As in other situations, you choose who you want to be at the wedding table.

Another less common options, at least in my experience, is that the bridal table is composed of:

Wedding table for the bride and groom only (it may be the case that families speak different languages)

Bridal table with the bride and groom's siblings and their respective partners

Bridal table with friends.

A half-moon table is usually set up so as not to turn away from the other guests and that, at the same time, they can talk to each other.

What do I do with the bouquet after the wedding?

Even before getting married, many brides are clear about who they would give their bridal bouquet to. Others doubt whether to keep it as a souvenir or to distribute it. On this subject, I wrote a post that you can read here.
